The patents filed and granted were increasingly numerous and constituted an asset of prestige for the Company.
In 1977 Termokimik suffered the loss of its founder, Mr. Pio Castellani, who had devotedly and untiringly dedicated his entire life to the advancement of the Company. The death of Mr Castellani was a great loss both under the human aspect and from the professional point of view as he had constantly been inspiring and promoting every Company's initiative.
After that, Mrs Clelia Bernasconi Castellani became the President of the Company and Mr Gianluigi Castellani became the Managing Director.
Mr. Gianluigi Castellani had no difficulty in taking over the new important role as he had already carried out tasks of considerable responsibility within the various Company sectors.
The efforts aimed at acquiring increasingly larger market shares were intensified and consolidated to an even greater extent with the acquisition of additional technologies, in particular for the Power Utilities market.
New licensing agreements were stipulated with the following companies:
-
ECOLAIRE PROCESS MANAGEMENT CO (U.S.A.): Licence for dust collecting and gas cleaning systems and equipment.
- HPD INCORPORATED (U.S.A.): Licence for evaporation and crystallisation plants for chemical industry and low radioactive waste concentration plants for nuclear power stations.
- KOCH PROCESS SYSTEMS INC. (U.S.A.): Licence for off-gas treatment plants for nuclear power stations.
The important new achievements that followed concurred in the consolidation of the Company's position in spite of the serious difficulties that characterised the Italian economy over those years.
Important contracts were awarded to Termokimik like ESP and Ash Handling for ENEL's Brindisi Nord Power Station, and the fuel pool demineralization filters, filtrate and distillate demineralisation and mechanical recompression concentrating plants for ENEL's new nuclear power station at Montalto di Castro.
The abandonment of the Italian nuclear energy program in favour of conventional fossil fuel systems has driven the Company to search for new technologies for the reduction of Sulphur Oxides and Nitrogen Oxides.
During the nineties the Company enriched its technology portfolio with a license for Sulphur Oxides reduction, established with the American company MARSULEX ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES and in parallel achieved a unique experience in the Nitrogen Oxides reduction by means of SCR systems, technology for which Termokimik is nowadays recognised as one of the most important worldwide players.
More recently, the decreasing demand of Automatic Control Systems has led to the decision to reorganise the relevant Division as an internal Department and in parallel the increasing potential of the Waste to Energy market has driven the Company's Management to further expand the organisation by creating another Division, named Waste Treatment Division, in charge of complete waste treatment and incineration plants as well as flue gas treatment for waste incinerators.
Once more Termokimik is ready to face the new challenges of an extremely competitive market by proposing the most advanced solutions.
