Fabric Filtration is a process in which a gas containing solid particles passes through a porous fabric medium where the solids are retained. Typically this process operates in a batch mode, with periodic removal of the retained solids from the filter medium, but the filter may also be designed to operate in a continuous manner.

Fabric Filtration processes can simultaneously remove particles and acid pollutants by removing the solids by impaction and the acid pollutants by chemical absorption. Furthermore, Fabric Filtration can treat fly ash coming from a wide range of fuels, even if designed for a specific case. For example, the type of coal virtually does not affect the design of a Fabric Filter but, on the other hand, has a very important influence on the design of an ESP.
Termokimik's experience in Fabric Filtration covers a wide range of applications: glass factories, foundries and steel plants, blast furnaces, waste incinerators and power plants.
Our experience on large power plants includes units up to 600 MW with a flow rate higher than 2.150.000 Nm3/h, among the biggest worldwide.
Additionally, Termokimik has an almost unique experience in the conversion from ESP to Fabric Filter on Coal Fired Power Plants, a solution which allows to minimise the capital cost of the Filter installation thanks to the reuse of ESP structure and casing. For these kinds of projects, the key point is to minimise the shutdown period in order to reduce the overall cost of the job. The skills and the specific experience of Termokimik's highly experienced engineers allow to find the most cost-effective configuration.
The main characteristics of Termokimik's state-of-the-art Fabric Filters are:
Exceptionally High Removal Rate
Termokimik Fabric Filters reach removal rates of 99.9% with excellent performances also on fine particles. Emission levels can be as low as 2 mg/Nm 3 .
Top Quality Filter Bags
Long performance life is guaranteed by selecting the best fabrics and the most qualified bag makers on the market. Termokimik's qualification procedure for the choice of bag suppliers includes severe criteria that only the most experienced and serious suppliers can fulfil.
Accurate Design
Every aspect of the project is taken into consideration while designing the Fabric Filter: technical (efficiency, turndown, gas flow behaviour, bag length and spacing, filtration rate gas temperature, .), operational (availability and reliability, ease of maintenance, .) and economic (capital and operating cost) issues are carefully evaluated in order to work out the optimal solution. |
